Jamia't Us-Salam was established as a Masjid and educational institution in 1998. Initially, Islamic educational facilities were offered to approximately 150 boys. They were not only taught the basics of Tajweed but a number of classes also focused on learning The Holy Q'uran, Hadith and day to day practices of Islam.
During the early years, it became apparent that spaces were limited and applications to enrol for the institution were increasing significantly. The Masjid attracted students from all over Birmingham. The existing building had to be modernised to increase the number of classes and this increased the teaching capacity to 250 boys.
Whilst education for boys was progressing well, there were several enquiries about the provision of education for girls. As there were no other facilities in the locality and spaces were somewhat limited, in 2005, a local property was acquired solely for this purpose. Like the boys institute, demand grew with time and so the decision was made to acquire the adjacent property.
